That stereotype is not true however, especially because not all Arabs are Muslim. Some are Christian or Jewish. Garments worn differ mostly by location. Here are examples of some basic classifications of garments worn by Muslim Arabs and Persians. HijabsA hijab is veil that women of Muslim religion wear around their head. However, contrary to the stereotype, not all Muslim women choose to wear a hijab. The word hijab is not only limited to a head veiling but in general means the act of dressing modestly. Many people think that there is only one type of hijab but there are actually four main types of hijabs.
GarmentsGarments worn by Arabs vary gender and location. Some of the clothing may look similar, but in different regions may be called something else or differ slightly in design from other regions. Here are examples of basic garments that you may see across the Middle East.
